Drop the Puck with the Minnesota Wild

The Arc and TheOfficial Adventures drop the puck with the MN Wild at a book release party for "Drop the Puck, It's Hockey Season," - the first in The Offical Adventures book series. Elementary aged readers will love this story about two brothers, Blaine and Cullen. Cullen is the all-star team captain and Blaine, who has Down syndrome, is the team manager. Their game day adventures will have young readers laughing out loud and cheering for more. Every family in attendance at this release party will receive a complementary signed copy of the book. Safe Kids, Healthy Relationship

Saturday May 30, 2015

It's never too early for kids with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and other intellectual or developmental disabilities to learn about being safe. The Arc's Healthy Relationship Project offers a three-part event for west metro families of children ages 2-15. Kids will enjoy activities with the Special Olympics Young Athletes program while they learn about friendships, safety and bullying. Parents will have their own sessions with tools and tips for keeping their children safe. Co-sponsored by The Arc, MOFAS, Special Olympics Minnesota and the YMCA. Tapemark Charity Pro-Am

What could be more fun than volunteering outdoors on a beautiful golf course in June? The Tapemark Charity Pro-Am has raised more than $6 million for organizations that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including The Arc. Volunteers are needed to help with concessions, volunteer check-in, golfer assistance, score board, hole-in-one spotting and other activities. Four hour shifts from 6 am - 7 pm. ReelAbilities Film Festival - Union Depot

ReelAbilities is a film festival dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with different disabilities. The festival presents award winning films by and about people with disabilities in multiple locations throughout each hosting city. ReelAbilities will present two films about autism topics at the Union Depot in June during the film festival. Autistic Like Me - A Fathers Perspective: A candid portrait of the fathers and male caregivers of children with autism. Autistic License: Autistic License is the autobiographical account of one familys journey to raise a son with autism.
