Introduction to Future Planning - key elements for your family member with a disability

Planning is key to a secure, healthy and happy future. This presentation provides an overview on future planning for your child or sibling with disabilities. Participants will receive information on financial planning and estate issues, including supplemental and special needs trust plans. Roger Grumdahl, a Weath Advisor and Financial Planner with Thrivent Financial is the keynot speaker. Grumdahl has an adult daughter with special needs and brings personal passion and professional experience to his work with families. Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Services - What are they and how do I access them?

Personal Care Assistant (PCA) services provide assistance to an individual with a disability who needs help with activities of daily living in order to function every day. Once families have obtained Medical Assistance, they may request an assessment to determine if they quality for PCA support. This MNAdopt sponsored webinar features The Arc's senior advocate Ryan Anderson Pascual and will discuss eligibility criteria and assessment, activities for daily livig, options for using PCA services, steps to the appeal process and information and resources. Guardianship Workshop

Do you have questions about guardianship and conservatorship? When individuals with disabilities reach 18, they become legal adults, with full rights and responsibilities, regardless of disability. Guardianship and conservatorship are substitute decision-making alternatives for those who need assistance. Families wonder what is the right decision, steps they need to take, what a guardian or conservator does and what are the rights of the person under guardianship. This workshop will help answer those questions and more, with an attorney presenting on the legal processes. Guardianship Workshop

Monday May 4, 2015

Do you have questions about guardianship and conservatorship? When individuals with disabilities reach 18, they become legal adults, with full rights and responsibilities, regardless of disability. Guardianship and conservatorship are substitute decision-making alternatives for those who need assistance. Families wonder what is the right decision, steps they need to take, what a guardian or conservator does and what are the rights of the person under guardianship. This workshop will help answer those questions and more, with an attorney presenting on the legal processes. Preparing for Guardianship and Accessing Social Security, Disability & SSI

Arc advocate Brad Hansen presents this webinar which will cover Preparing for Guardianship - how it works, alternatives, rights of the person under guardianship, annual report request and information and resources. He will also discuss social security and disability income (SSDI) and supplemental security income (SSI) - what they are, eligibility, application process, reporting process and steps to appeal the process. Tapemark Charity Pro-Am

What could be more fun than volunteering outdoors on a beautiful golf course in June? The Tapemark Charity Pro-Am has raised more than $6 million for organizations that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including The Arc. Volunteers are needed to help with concessions, volunteer check-in, golfer assistance, score board, hole-in-one spotting and other activities. Four hour shifts from 6 am - 7 pm.
