MINNEAPOLIS – Parents and family caregivers who are considering
guardianship for a loved one with an intellectual or developmental disability
are invited to The ABCs of Guardianship, a three-part workshop from Arc Greater
Twin Cities coming to Richfield February 1, 8 & 15.
The ABCs of Guardianship provides tools and information to help families make
informed decisions about appointing a guardian. The three parts are:
Part I: Assessing the Need – February 1
This overview of guardianship guides participants through the process of
analyzing needs and choosing the most appropriate alternative for substitute
decision-making.
Part II: Navigating the Process – February 8
An attorney will lead participants through the process of selecting a guardian,
filing for guardianship and navigating the court process.
Part III: Assuming the Responsibilities – February 15
Guest presenters will share their personal experiences with the practical
issues people face in the role of guardian.
All three sessions will be held on Thursdays from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Woodlake
Lutheran Church, 7525 Oliver Ave. S., Richfield. The series is free for Arc
members and for those who join Arc when they register. The cost of each session
