MINNEAPOLIS - Arc Greater Twin Cities and Anoka-Hennepin Parent Involvement are joining forces to offer Arc’s GetSet! Training for Special Education Success to parents of school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The four-part training series will be held in April and May at the Anoka-Hennepin Staff Development Center, 2727 North Ferry Street, Anoka. GetSet! also gives participants an opportunity to network with other parents of children with disabilities.

All sessions will be on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The schedule! is:

April 10 Session 1: Identifying children for special education services and the evaluation process.
April 17 Session 2: Developing your child’s IEP and parent participation in IEP team meetings.
April 24 Session 3: Implementing the IEP and special topics, including extended school year, transition and behavior intervention.
May 1 Session 4: IEP reviews and reevaluation; problem-solving techniques and the due process system.
