ST. PAUL – The change from school to adult life is a big step for
any teen, but it’s even more challenging for kids with intellectual and
developmental disabilities. Parents can learn how to prepare for that change at
GetSet!® for Transition, a workshop on Thursday, April 10, from 6:30 – 8:00
p.m. at Arc Greater Twin Cities, 2446 University Ave. W., Suite 110, St. Paul.
GetSet! for Transition guides parents through decisions they must begin to
consider when their child reaches the transition years of 14 - 21. Participants
will learn how to work with their child’s school and other community partners
to develop a transition plan for their child that addresses key issues such as
employment, community living, housing, post-secondary education and recreation.
The cost of the workshop is $10 per person for Arc members and $25 for others.
No one will be turned away for inability to pay. If you need accommodations to
attend a workshop, please contact Arc two weeks prior to the workshop date. To
register or get more information, call Arc at (952) 920-0855.
